Guerino Bovalino is Cheurcheur associé at LEIRIS – Laboratoire d'Études Interdisciplinaires sur le Réel et les Imaginaires Sociaux, Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier and Adjuct Professor of Political participation in the digital age at Link Campus University in Rome. His research activity is mainly related to mediology, sociology of the imaginary, political sociology and cultural studies, preferring interdisciplinarity. The theoretical framework underlying his studies consists in the models and theories set out by Walter Benjamin, Georges Bataille, Marshall McLuhan and, among the more recent, Alberto Abruzzese, Michel Maffesoli, Derrick De Kerckhove, Byung-Chul Han and Luciano Floridi. 

He attained a double Ph.D. at IULM Milan in co-tutorship with Université Paris V René Descartes - La Sorbonne with a project entitled “Origin is the Goal. Digital languages as anti-humanist tactics,” under the coordination of Prof. Alberto Abruzzese, former Director of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at La Sapienza in Rome and Professor Emeritus at IULM in Milan, and Michel Maffesoli, Professor Emeritus at La Sorbonne. He attained a research grant from 2019 to 2022 at the University for Foreigners “Dante Alighieri” in Reggio Calabria with a project titled: “The social impact of digital transformation. digital theories and practices in the field of culture,  politics, economic innovation and social inclusion”. His academic experiences include a fellowship at ICAT - Institute for Communication Arts & Technology della Hallym University in Chuncheon, South Korea.
